The Fluid That Binds Us, Show Statement:

This series of paintings and prints was inspired by the idea that we are all deeply connected to a common fluid… not just as humans, but as beings of every kind on earth, from the smallest bacteria, to a carrot, to an eagle, up to the largest tree. We rely on water to be born, to grow, and to die.  It’s this wonderful fluid that binds us together and makes life possible.

As a surfer, water holds a deep meaning for me. The ocean forms a place where I find sanctuary, sanity, challenge, passion and fun. During my travels over the last year and a half, I realized that all surfers are the same… we all just want to be in the water, surfing. Simple as that. It’s on this level of common ground that I hope my experience and connection with the ocean as well as my love for the beach lifestyle shines through in this body of work.
